Choosing the right handball: Grip and size
Handball is a contact and speed sport where ball handling ( grip ) is fundamental. An unsuitable ball, too slippery or poorly balanced, makes technical shots (rolls, lobs) impossible and compromises the accuracy of passes.

1. WHAT BALL SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE? (IHF STANDARDS)
Respecting the size is imperative for the player's grip and motor development.
- Size 0: Children under 8 years old. Reduced circumference (46-48 cm) for beginners.
- Size 1: Girls' teams (8-14 years) and boys' teams (8-12 years).
- Size 2: Women's teams (14+ years) and boys' teams (12-16 years). This is the standard ball for senior women's handball.
- Size 3: Men's teams (+16 years) and Senior men. Maximum weight (425-475g) and circumference (58-60 cm).
2. TYPE OF PRACTICE: MATCH VS TRAINING
MATCH BALLS (Performance & Resin)
Construction: Hand-sewn panels.
Top of the line. These balls use a natural latex bladder for a crisp bounce and optimal liveliness. The high-quality polyurethane (PU) cover is designed for maximum grip with the use of resin (glue) .
- Stable trajectory and perfect balance.
- Soft touch (foam underlayer).
- Requires regular reinflation (latex is porous).
TRAINING BALLS (Resistance)
Construction: Machine-stitched or hybrid.
Designed for durability. They often use a butyl or synthetic bladder that retains air much longer, eliminating the need for reinflation before each session. The grip is present but less effective than on match models when used without glue.

3. INNOVATION: THE RESIN-FREE BALLOON
Faced with restrictions on the use of glue in many municipal gymnasiums, manufacturers (such as Molten or Select) have developed "Resin-Free" technologies.
These balls have an absorbent surface and a very strong intrinsic grip that simulates the effect of glue without soiling the floors. A strategic option for amateur players in strict indoor environments.
